  Sloppy steering - 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder

  Great looking paper tiger. Clutch is spongy and fights off efforts for quick shifts making for a fast car but a slow takeoff from the line. More horsepower and better exhaust is desperately needed. Steering has bad road feel feedback with a plus/minus 3 degree float. Power steering needs to have less boost. Taking it on a overnight trip - fogeddabotit. Youll need to sleep in what your start out with. Storage for about a 6-pack - without ice. Tires suck - buy new rubber right off the bat.

  this car is perfect for those who love sport cars, but do not have children to tote around. It is probably the best bang for your buck on the market.

  This is a fantastic car, at a reasonable price that is wonderful to drive. I have owned this car for almost 3 years now and have never had any mechanical problems with it. Be careful on some of the comments above as the 2000 MR2 doesnt have cruise control so I dont understand one of the reviews.

  I bought my MR2 for my 50th birthday as I always said that I would have a sports car by the time I was 50. I love my spyder! My only fault is the storage space but never the less I have been amazed at how much I can load into my car when going to the grocery. Everyone still stops to stare at my car. I probably need to sell but have not been able to do so yet. I just hate to give it up! I drove this car to work and back for 8 years and it has been parked for two only driving it when I want to feel special. It has been a joy and delight to drive and own.

  FredWirts review is way off the mark. As a matter of fact, I doubt he owns one (Cruise wasnt even available on the 2000! If he has it, it is aftermarket.) His problems are far out of the ordinary. Get the real story on the Spyder at www.spyderchat.com and ask the enthusiasts there. As for the guy with the 10K-15K tires...okay...sure. You can replace your tires with some excellent ones for less than $400 and pocket the difference between that and the extra $10-12K on the S2000. Dont know what kind of tires you had, but thats no reason to rate the car a 2-3 overall! :)

  My Spider belonged to a family member who could not let go! I took over the hot rod and love every single minute with it. It looks and rides like a Porsche just less expensive. It rides like new. I absolutely love it and would love another one. My only complaint is the top. Wished it was automatic and hands free. Other than that I would get another one. Sharp Smart and great on the road! I always get asked what kind of car is that it is HOT!!! I have a midnight blue with black interior. Its a hottie...

  Car sucks overall. Continuous breakdowns. Cheapo interior surprising since it is a Toyota. So far needed new a/c, antilock brakes failed, wiper motor died, cruise sticks on. In shop 9 times in first 8 months!

  I will most likely keep my MR2 till I can not drive any more. Sure there are better sports cars, bt you can not get a better one for the price and the gas mileage 25-34 mpg
